Brewing whole bean coffee starts with grinding your medium roast beans just before brewing to preserve freshness, aroma, and flavor. Use a burr grinder for the most consistent grind, adjusting the coarseness to match your brew method; coarse for French press, medium for drip, and fine for espresso. Measure about 1–2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee per 6 ounces of water, and heat water to 195–205°F. Brewing with freshly ground beans unlocks richer flavor, brighter notes, and a more aromatic cup that showcases the coffee at its best.
